Pet Rehoming Assistance

This page allows members of the public to find new homes for their pets without bringing them into the Shelter. The City of Rohnert Park accepts no responsibility for the pets posted to this page. Potential adopters are responsible for communicating with the pet’s guardian to acquire veterinary records and other necessary information.

If you need to find a home for a pet you can no longer care for, please read and follow these steps:

Pet Guardians:

  • Your posting will not appear immediately but will appear after it is reviewed. Please do not resubmit your photo and post!
  • The Description box must also include your contact information. The ‘Your Name’ and ‘Your Email’ boxes do not show up in the post, so if you don’t include your contact information in the Description box, the public cannot contact you.  We will not upload a post that is missing your contact info.
  • The description box must also include information on your pet such as age, spay/neuter status, personality, and preferences. This is your chance to highlight the good, and to honestly disclose the issues, of your pet so that you find a good match.
  • Upload only one photo, no larger than 1 MB in size.
  • Your post will remain on our site for 30 days.  You will have to resubmit the post if your pet is still available.
  • People will contact you directly at the phone # or email you have provided, we do not facilitate communication between you.
  • Adult cats being placed must be spayed/neutered, we greatly encourage the same for adult dogs.
  • Please let us know when you have found a suitable home for your pet so we can remove your post.  Contact us at and be sure to include the pet’s name and your name.

Pet Seekers:

  • Visit the Adoptions by Owner page and use the pet guardian’s contact information to make arrangements to meet with these animals. We do not get involved with these communications or adoptions other than facilitating this webpage. .
